If you’re wondering how our name is pronounced that’s okay! You aren’t the first to say “wahcheeta”. The correct pronunciation is wash-i-tah. Ouachita is the French spelling of the Native American word Washita which means “Good Hunting Ground”. This rings 100% true of the Ouachita National Forest if your quarry is peace, beauty, solitude, nature and quartz crystals that are abundant in this area. It’s here in the Ouachita Mountains that some of the largest quartz crystal beds can be found! We have been in awe of this area’s beauty and magic since the first time we visited! It’s absolutely an enchanting place!
We are a Choctaw owned, woman powered, culturally diverse small family business that strives to give our customers a one of a kind candle experience. Our focus is on excellence in candle making, educating the consumer on candles, doing our best to source ethically and to support small businesses like our own.
WE CHOOSE SOY!
Soy is non-toxic and a completely natural and renewable resource that burns cleaner and longer than paraffin wax. When burned correctly and combined with specifically designed cotton wicks, it’s virtually soot-free making it better for the environment and you!
Thanks to the hard-working American farmers, the USA currently provides majority of the world’s soybean harvest. We may be small, but by using soy, it allows us to support the American farmers!
INDIVIDUALLY HANDCRAFTED
When gathering our materials, we make it our goal to procure ingredients from only the best, most ethical sources. Every batch of candles is hand poured in small lots to ensure quality. Our quartz crystals are sourced locally in the Ouachita Mountain range and charged by the natural spring water, earth, and moon for positive vibes only! They are then individually selected and put in our Crystal line candles. All other candle adornments are also selected and placed artistically by hand. This means that every candle is as unique as you are!
FRAGRANCE OILS
We use high quality fragrance oils that are DBP & DEHP Phthalates free. Our fragrances are IFRA Certified (In compliance with the standards of the International Fragrance Association). They do, however, contain DEP. DEP is safe for human health and the environment. According to the IFRA safety profile based on “Human Health Criteria” shows that these fragrances to be safer for human use than any natural essential oil. Essential oils are not regulated and many of them are not safe to burn in a candle.
