Candle Care & Safety

Love your candle!

We get asked all the time “Why are your wicks curled?”

Well, it started when we were learning to make candles and we were watching a lot of candle tutorials. We saw some people using a pencil to hold their wicks in place when pouring the wax into the container. We fell in love with it and the little piggy tail it left behind!

So, we know it’s cute, but trim the piggy tail wick off to 1/8 -1/4″ before your first burn, and every burn after to keep your candle burning clean and efficient.

Now, let’s go over a few basic candle care and safety tips!

Did you Know your wax has a memory?

It’s true! In fact, the first burn it the most important! It’s called a memory burn. This burn is where your candle sets the boundaries of how it will burn until the wick is gone.

So, light your candle for the first time when you’ll be home for a good 3 to 4 hours. The rule is to let your candle burn 1 hour for every inch of its diameter. It is important that the melt pool extends to the edges of the container, or you will end up with a memory ring. If a memory ring develops, your candle will start tunneling and there’s no going back.

Creating a good melt pool will maximize your scent throw, prevent tunneling and extend the life of your candle!

Who Knew? So, love your candle and it will love you back!

Light and Enjoy!
